art
this community both has and supports artists. We use art in worship in a variety of ways, and also have a small gallery in our space that features independent shows by local artists on a rotating basis. We see art as a way into reflection on the human condition of despair and hope, and find this to be an essential element of seeking a God who moves through despair.
Some of our Artist Connections:
Mark Edwin Carlson is our Artist in Residence. He rents studio space in the basement, and showed an exhibit Wicked Game in our gallery, an interactive, educational exhibit of oil paintings dealing with hate crimes in Minnesota. He has also led adult education, and participates with us from time to time in worship.
Susan Hensel is an artist and gallery owner in Minneapolis, and a member of our worship team.
